AIM

  • Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives at basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services
  • Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of, and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical /public health setting.

ACCREDITATION

Our Institution is recognized by Government of Tamil Nadu GO (4D) No.31, The Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Indian Nursing Council (Code-2903216) and affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University, Guindy.(Code-622). Annual inspections are conducted and continuing provisional affiliation order is issued yearly.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES To implement the curriculum we follow the Indian Nursing Council Syllabus, block system, theory full block followed by clinical block.The academic year commences in October.

CLINICAL BLOCK

  • I year Basic nursing clinical exposure is given  in  GH – kanchipuram head quarters Hospital and in parent Hospital – Bon Secours Hospital.
  • II Year for Medical and Surgical Specialty training students go to the ESI Hospital K.K. Nagar, and in Kancheepuram Government Hospital.
  • For Rural and Urban community training students go to Sevilimedu and Maduramangalam Primary Health Centre.
  • Field trip is planned as per syllabus.
  • III  year for Super Specialty training students go to the  ESI Hospital KK..Nagar for Child Health Nursing, Dr. G.D. Boaz Memorial Hospital Tambaram for  Psychiatric Nursing, Kancheepuram Government Hospital and Bon Secours Hospital for Medical Surgical nursing – II.
  • IV year for Midwifery training students go to Kancheepuram Government Hospital and Bon Secours Hospital
  • For rural and urban community training students go to Sevilimedu and Maduramangalam  Primary Health Centre.
  • For Internship Students go to  Annai Arul Hospital, Mudichur, Bon Secours Hospital and Kancheepuram Head quarters Hospital.

SANITATION

The college and hostel are kept clean. The students are responsible for keeping the rooms clean. NSS checks the campus to maintain a  plastic free and mosquito breeding free campus.

HEALTH   

Periodically health checks are done in parent hospital and  needed vaccinations are given, and weight is recorded. Counseling is done once in 3 months. Students physical and mental health is taken care of.

COMPUTER LAB   10 computers and internet facilities are available.

LIBRARY

We have  3029 books in our library. National, International, Monthly, Weekly and Daily magazines are available. One senior and one junior librarian take care and students are allowed till 10 pm.

CO CURRICULAR  ACTIVITIES

To enable the students and to explore their talents in-house competitions are conducted prize distribution is  done on the Annual day. Rolling trophy is given. Students are encouraged to play in the evening.

Yoga and meditation are given priority as it is very important for students physical and mental health

National programs are celebrated in coordination with Government Hospital and Primary Health Centers.

RESULTS

We proudly announce that the 2014 batch who got 53% results in the I year have achieved 100% results with 23 distinctions. It is a tribute to the patience and competency of the internal and external faculty who nurture students over 4 years. We profess our unwavering commitment to that endeavor.

CAMPUS INTERVIEW 

The good academic record does not end with the results. They get translated  into a fruitful carrier. The college had approached  many corporate hospitals to enable placement and campus interview is being conducted and placement is done. We are very proud to say that our 1st batch 2014 are placed in SRMC Porur, Apollo hospitals,  St John’s Medical College Hospital Bengaluru,  Kamatchi hospital Pallikarni, on contract basis in the Government Hospital.

FACULTY WELFARE

Professional development is ongoing, to be in par with the trends, competencies and also for the renewal of license to practice, Faculty are given opportunity to attend Continuing Nursing Education programmes, seminars, workshops and on line courses.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Medical camps are conducted periodically, World health day was celebrated, Health Exhibition was held for school children, About 600 school and college students in and around  participated.
  • Students took active part in flood relief work and medical camps.
  • SSN Engineering College awarded the college for flood relief work.
  • Participated in Cultural Competition in St. Isabel’s college of Nursing-Chennai
  • 84 plants were planted on A.P.J.Abdulkalams Birth day
  • Students participated in science city competition conducted by TN.Dr,MGR Medical University.
  • Women’s Day was celebrated, rally from college to Sunguvarchathiram was held, headed by the village President.
  • We Coordinate with Molasur village developmental activities
  • The Students participated in all the National programmes, Rallies and competitions, and were awarded and appreciated by the collector of Kancheepuram, RMO (Resident Medical officers), and Nursing Superintendents of Kancheepuram District Hospital .
  • Conducted School Health Camp with Pediatrician, Dentist in Morning Star Primary School.
  • The Student participated in Swachha Bharat – Competition conducted in Kancheepuram GH and bagged the shield.

To encourage caring and sharing, students spend a day in the old age home in kovalam, special schools in Mamandoor, Karayanchavadi and in Jeevodaya hospice care center Mathoor giving entertainment, sharing fruits and sweets.

Life in BSCON is guided by its core vision of educating, enabling and empowering women to become confident and enlightened Global citizens ready to step into the challenging and competitive global society with dignity, honour and integrity.

We have grand plans for the future with dedication, effort of community, and support of the well wishers we will forge ahead to meet our goals.

HOSTEL

College provides a caring and safe environment that promotes physical, emotional health and well being. Students stay in Hostel is compulsory, three in one well ventilated Room, two wardens are appointed to take care, watchmen for day and night shift are available. Safe drinking water facility is available in Hostel and College, 1:4 toilets and bathing rooms are available with adequate water facility. Students are permitted to attend their religious rituals. Fire safety is available. Students, Faculty and Staff are trained. Rain water harvesting done in Hostel and College Buildings. Residential faculty (sisters) take care of night study hours.

MESS

5 Cooks are appointed to take care of the students’ diet. Non veg and seasonal fruits are provided.
